Be it instant message, chat or private message belonging to social media platforms, text represents the main communication form for Generation Z. Being always on the rush, young people have adapted their written communication, using (besides abbreviated words) emoticons, digital stickers, memes and videos.

The relaxed oral communication tone is also met in the written one, with no grammar rules applied: words are shortened or abbreviated, while punctuation marks are rarely used. Often, the messages have multiple significance, leaving room for interpretation.
